This week’s PGA course preview takes us to California for the Zozo Championship being played at Sherwood Country Club. This course is not brand new to the tour, but it’s only ever hosted small events like the Shark Shootout, and from 2000 to 2013 it was the home of the Hero World Challenge (which is an 18- to 20-golfer field).

On Sherwood’s web page, the course is listed at 7,098 yards, par 72 — however, there are five par 5s, five par 3s and eight par 4s, which is irregular compared to most course setups. The extra par 5 should lead to slightly lower scoring than on a typical par 72 setup. Going over the hole lengths and tour averages, it breaks down to a field scoring average of 71.25, and if I had to guess I would say the winner...
