Top DFS Picks and Plays for UFC Vegas 59 (8/6)

After witnessing the lioness Amanda Nunes get her belt back last week, we are back at the Apex this weekend in Las Vegas for UFC Vegas 59. This card may produce exciting finishes, and this weekend I’m looking to target all of the fighters I believe to be those finishers. Below I will be listing my favorite fighters to consider for your DFS lineups.

Tier 1 Terrance McKinney, $9,500 The fighter I’m expecting to find a finish this weekend is “T-Wrecks” McKinney, as he fights an opponent who does not mind standing and banging. If you’ve seen any of T-Wrecks’ fights, you know standing and banging with him could end rather quickly and trying to wrestle and grapple with him could end with a sub as well. From all angles, McKinney can find the finish, and I’m thinking he will. This is a good week for a top-heavy lineup this week that must include this fighter.

Jamal Hill, $9,000 On the rise and looking to leave his mark this weekend against a legend, Sweet Dreams is looking to continue his destruction of the light heavyweight division. With an average fight time of 5:48 and an output that averages 7.06 strikes landed per minute, it would be a crime to leave this fighter off your lineups.

Vicente Luque, $8,500 This fight should be fireworks for as long as it lasts and considering the durability of both Neal and Luque it could very well end in the hands of the judges after numerous flash knockdowns and near sub attempts. I’m bullish on Luque this weekend, he averages 5.03 strikes landed per minute and most of his wins have been by either knockout or sub. Id highly suggest you consider Luque in your lineups Saturday.

Tier 2 Josh Quinlan, $8,600 (Update: Fight Canceled) Making his debut in the octagon on the contender series Quinlan stopped his opponent in the opening 47 seconds of the fight and has only been to the judges’ scorecards once in both amateur and pro career so far. I see Quinlan getting the finish this weekend against the “Vanilla Gorilla,” Jason Witt.

Bryan Battle, $8,700 Battle comes forward and looks to mix up his striking and hit his opponents with a variety of strikes. He doesn’t fear going forward because of his grappling acumen and ability to adapt to anywhere this fight goes. He also is very durable and will fight your dollar and lineups this weekend. Battle also has five finishes in his last seven fights and could very well find another here against Sato.

Tier 3 Geoff Neal, $7,700 As a worthy opponent for Luque, Neal also brings tools to the cage that could help find a finish as “Hands of Steel” is not looking to get another split decision win like in his last fight. Averaging 4.63 strikes landed per minute at nearly 50% accuracy, Neal is more than capable of stopping Luque and making this an exciting fight, the possible fight of the night. I will have him in some of my lineups as well.

Mayra Bueno Silva, $8,200 In this matchup, having size, power and a 69% takedown defense will help Bueno Silva possibly find a decision win or maybe even a late stoppage after Stephanie Egger tires from trying to take Bueno Silva down multiple times and not having success. Bueno Silva also averages nearly three times the number of strikes landed per minute at 4.25 compared to the 1.69 strikes landed by egger. I don’t see Egger having her way here and getting the takedown as easily as she did against Jessica Rose-Clark.

Fades Mohammed Usman, $7,300 I’m sure he was a good football player in college, but Usman doesn’t belong in an octagon and looks like an amateur in all departments of the game. Not saying he can’t develop into a Greg Hardy and eventually be able to throw a combination, but what I am saying is that at this point in his career he is not ready, and I’ll be fading him from all angles this weekend.
