NHL DFS Strategy and Core Plays for November 27

The puck drops for this four-game DFS NHL slate at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Below you’ll see a list of all the games on the NHL slate along with the goal total for each:

Vancouver Canucks at San Jose Sharks – 6.5 Ottawa Senators at Los Angeles Kings – 6.5 Seattle Kraken at Anaheim Ducks – 6.0 Winnipeg Jets at Chicago Blackhawks – 5.5 Note, over the last 10 days, the Chicago Blackhawks, San Jose Sharks, Anaheim Ducks, Ottawa Senators and Winnipeg Jets rank in the top 10 teams in goals allowed:

Favorite GPP Line Stacks Los Angeles Kings Line 1 Anze Kopitar, Adrian Kempe, Kevin Fiala (with Drew Doughty)

Statistically speaking, these three have underperformed as a line so far this year. We even saw them get split up for a handful of games after they struggled to find chemistry together to start the season. However, there’s too much talent here for me to ignore, especially considering the matchup they have at home vs. Ottawa. The Senators rank in the top 10 in goals allowed (3.45/game), with a penalty kill that has hit at just a 79.0% rate. On top of that, they’ve taken the sixth-most minor penalties this year, so we should see the Kings go on the power play a few times tonight. That’s perfect for this Kings first line, as all three forwards play on the No. 1 power play (along with Doughty).

Ottawa Senators Line 1 Tim Stuetzle, Brady Tkachuk, Drake Batherson (with Thomas Chabot)

Now, I like the other side of this game as well, as the Kings haven’t been particularly disciplined themselves this year, having taken the seventh-most minor penalties. And one of the few bright spots we’ve seen from the Senators this year has been their power play, which has scored at a 24.0% rate (including a 28.6% rate in their past four games). All three forwards on this Senators first line play on the No. 1 power play (along with Thomas Chabot), making them one of the stronger correlated line stacks on this small slate.

Winnipeg Jets Line 2 Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler, Cole Perfetti

After getting throttled by the Minnesota Wild by a score of 6-1 two games ago, we saw the Jets shuffle up their lines. So, we don’t have much to go off statistically with these new lines outside of their last game vs. Dallas. That said, the Jets second line was quite good versus Dallas, leading the team in expected goals, shots and shot attempts. They should be able to continue that versus a struggling Blackhawks team that has given up 4.75 goals/game with a penalty kill that has hit at just a 55.6% rate over their past four games.

Seattle Kraken Line 2 Matty Beniers, Jared McCann, Jordan Eberle

I truly like both of the top 2 lines for the Kraken in this matchup versus Anaheim, but I give the edge to their second line. It’s a tremendously cheap line stack that has been rather good statistically over their past four games. The three have combined for 5 goals and 10 assists during that stretch of games and have a great matchup to expand on versus a Ducks team that has given up the second-most goals per game this year (4.19/game) while surrendering the league’s worst penalty kill (65.8% rate). We’ll see McCann and Eberle play on the No. 1 power play tonight, while Beniers plays on the No. 2 power play. And the Ducks have been no stranger to the penalty box this season, having taken the second-most minor penalties across the league.
