College basketball DFS picks and strategy for Tuesday (1/24)

With the College Basketball season in full swing and conference in midseason form, we get loaded NCAA DFS slates to analyze every day. There’s a 12-game slate on DraftKings Tuesday starting at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Below, I’m looking at my DFS angles for the Tuesday slate up and down the price pool.

Studs Oscar Tshiebwe, Kentucky ($10,900) With a ton of value on Tuesday’ slate, picking the right stud to pay up for will be a key decision. For me, I won’t try to overthink it and will go with the guy with the best rates and who will play the entire game, last year’s Wooden Award winner Big O. Oscar gets a matchup here on the road against a Vanderbilt team without their main rim protector Liam Robbins (out due to injury) and have struggled defensively this season, especially to defend the paint (154 th nationally in 2pt FG%, 162 nd in defensive rebounding percentage). Tshiebwe’s insane 50% combined rebounding alone almost makes him an auto-play but he should also be heavily involved in the offense while providing steal and block upside as well. I hope the price keeps ownership down on Oscar, but he should be in store for a big game here.

Primo Spears, Georgetown ($7,900) The Hoyas are extremely banged up and Primo Spears is the only guy left on the roster that can create any sort of assemblance of offense. We can certainly see that in his last game where his usage rate spiked to a ridiculous 52% and he produced 59 fantasy points against Xavier. He gets another pace up spot against DePaul where he will be relied heavily upon to produce a large amount of offense for Georgetown. I’m sure coming off a huge game he will garner high rostership, but he is really hard to fade with that kind of potential usage.

Umoja Gibson, DePaul ($7,500) Sticking with that same game, Georgetown’s 279 th -ranked defense is ideal to target against and provides a super fantasy-friendly environment. In their first matchup of the season, Gibson exploded for 53.5 fantasy points, and there’s no reason why he couldn’t do it again here. I was a little afraid that the return of Caleb Murphy would limit Gibson’s minutes/usage, but he still managed to play over 35 minutes and show usage rates over 20%. With the amount of big games Georgetown typically gives up to guards, you can play Gibson with confidence in this spot.

Value Amaree Abram, Ole Miss ($4,400) Daeshun Ruffin, Ole Miss ($4,800) Monitoring injury news will be key for this slate and the status of Matt Murrell’s knee will be top priority. The injury looked pretty serious Saturday. so I am expecting him to be out, but stranger things have happened in college basketball. Abram and Ruffin both immediately become great value plays with Murrell’s 27% shot rate out of the lineup. Both show great usage and shot rates (especially Ruffin) and all they need are the minutes to produce from a fantasy perspective. I would say Abram is a little bit safer in terms of minutes as Ruffin is still working his way back from injury and an illness, but both have immense upside with Murrell out.

Isiaih Mosley, Missouri ($4,600) Well, the Isiaih Mosley saga in Missouri has made absolutely no sense all year, and all of a sudden Dennis Gates finally decided to unleash him last game for 33 minutes after sitting him for majority of the season. We know Mosley’s talent from watching him a season ago tear up the Missouri Valley at Missouri State. His rates are impressive (shows almost a 30% usage rate) and all he needs is time on the court to produce. With Kobe Brown looking quite questionable again and Mosley maybe getting another shot at 30-plus minutes, he is a no brainer at this price point.

Tre King, Iowa State ($3,800) I’ve been on the Eastern Kentucky transfer for a few weeks now, and TJ Otzelberger finally unleashed him last week against Oklahoma State where he played 29 minutes and put up 27.5 fantasy points. Caleb Grill dealing with back spasms certainly helped, but with King’s 18.5% shot rate and 29% combined rebounding rate to go along with block and steal upside, he is an absolute steal at this price. I am hoping his last performance sparks more floor time for King and if he can muster 25-plus minutes he should easily exceed value. Playing King also allows you to fit is guys like Oscar, Bacot, Cleveland, etc.
