When it comes to making money in the DFS industry, there’s no such thing as too many outlets. So, when a new opportunity arises, we want to take advantage of it. That’s exactly what we’ve been presented with lately with the newest partner of FTN, StatHero.

StatHero is a healthy mix of DFS and the idea of a sportsbook in the sense that you are building a lineup with a salary cap, similar to the traditional DFS structure, but instead of competing against thousands of other entries, you’re competing against the “book”. The book, in this case, is a pre-generated lineup that you need to beat. Stat Hero MLB picks for tonight

Here is a look at my favorite plays on StatHero for Thursday’s slate.

StatHero MVP picks

StatHero went with an interesting strategy Thursday, as they don’t have any players from the same team in their lineup, but six players from separate teams. While I am a fan of some of their pieces, the optimal route in MLB DFS is stacking, so that’s the route I intend to go.

Picking on Yankees starter Michael King with the Blue Jays is my favorite strategy here, leading me to mirror StatHero and insert Vladimir Guerrero Jr. as my MVP and getting different elsewhere. Even if you don’t want to use him as your MVP, he’s simply too cheap for the multi-HR upside that he possesses.

If you want Blue Jays exposure in your lineup but want to differentiate at MVP, Bo Bichette, Marcus Semien and Teoscar Hernández are some of my favorite options on the slate. If looking to differentiate off of the Blue Jays stack, the Tampa Bay Rays are another to target, with Austin Meadows being my favorite MVP option from that team.

StatHero flex picks

As I alluded to above, getting exposure to multiple Blue Jays is a priority for me. With Guerrero in my MVP spot, Bichette and Semien are the two that fit the nicest around Guerrero and give you a great level of exposure to the top of that batting order.

With three remaining spots in the lineup, I want to get exposure to the Rays’ offense as well, with Randy Arozarena and Meadows being my top two options.

From there, I want to fill in with exposure to Coors Field on both sides of the game — with Willy Adames, Luis Urías, Christian Yelich and Trevor Story being the top targets in a game that carries an implied run total of 10 runs.

StatHero sleeper picks

If looking for a sleeper stack, the Astros take the cake. They’re getting virtually zero attention given the above-average season that Dylan Cease is having, but the offense is red hot and it’s one to take advantage of in the midst of their streaks. Yordan Alvarez, Carlos Correa and Jose Altuve are the top options for Houston.
