Each week in this column, you’ll find my favorite pivot plays on the DraftKings main slate. This isn’t to say to eat some of the chalk, sometimes the popular plays are popular for good reason, and you should use those players in your lineups. I’ve based the pivot plays off the FTN Ownership projections but remember, never pivot off of a good play to a bad play just because they’re projected to be lower owned. That’s moronic. The move is to find the good, low-owned players and pivot on to them. For my favorite NFL prop bets, Brad Evans and I go back and forth on FTN Bets each week.

Dalvin Cook, RB, Minnesota Vikings ($9,000)

It’s not a difficult decision to end up on Cook. It’s merely a leverage play. That simple. Doesn’t mean it will win out, but after Drew Brees was announced as the starter in New Orleans, combined with Michael Thomas being ruled out, Alvin Kamara became a vacuum for ownership. Expect almost a quarter of lineups in large field GPPs of DraftKings to have two of Derrick Henry, Kamara or Cam Akers on them. Maybe all three in certain spots. This vacuum sucked all ownership off Cook. Granted, Cook has the worst matchup of the bunch, but a top-three RB can always overcome a perceived bad match and it’s a risk you should be taking when he’s coming in now at single-digit ownership.

Marvin Jones, WR, Detroit Lions ($5,700)

You want to play Derrick Henry, right? What about some bringbacks from the other side? Now that Matthew Stafford appears like he’ll start, minus Kenny Golladay, Jones is the latest to get the opportunity to demolish this awful Titans secondary. Averaging almost 10 targets a game in Golladay’s absence, Jones is a perfect pivot off the more popular Corey Davis, T.Y. Hilton and Brandin Cooks.

Kenyan Drake, RB, Arizona Cardinals ($5,500)

If you’re committed to Henry and Kamara at the top, Drake is about $1,000 cheaper than Akers and provides a huge ownership discount along with it. Plus, the touchdown upside is about the same between the two. Since returning from injury, Drake has been the guy people thought they were drafting in the first round of season-long leagues this year. He’s piled up five scores in the last four games, cracking 20 touches in two of the past three weeks. Plus, a banged-up Chase Edmonds could result in an uptick in receiving work too.
